A bit of help w rectal pain in a 14 year old boy

Hi....my son has UC. Gets a flare every so often. This one is different for him. He says there is pain while having a bowel movement that gives him goosebumps. His spasming has increased to where he needs hyoscyamine every 6 hours. Bowel moments are ugly w blood and mucus but only 2 a day. Giving Cort enema at night and 25mg suppository in morning. Started 40mg of prednisone 3 days ago. No fever. Dealing with this since the beginning of May. Feel like the pain is caused from ulcer(s) getting worse. Since this pain is new since past weekend not sure if it's something more. Just had scope done which showed active bowel disease. Dr says all he needs is suppository and it should take care of it. I started him on 40mg and let dr know which he has not called back. This is not our first rodeo but this time it's different. Just seems like he (we) can't get it under control. A few years back he had pancolitis and was scheduled for surgery a month later only to be healed. Hallelujah!. so has anyone experienced a chilling/most profound feeling during bowel movement that doesn't get better after and if so what r your findings...thanks

Hmm the inflammation could be really bad causing the pain or he could have a fissure somewhere down there. I've heard those are VERY painful. His GI would need to take a look see.

Seems like you are doing the correct meds if he has a lot of rectal inflammation. The steriod enemas and supps aren't good to be on long term though. He may need to up his med regime to some stronger meds. Has he done any of the mesalamine rectal meds?

We have been in and out of the hospital. We were on remicade which did nothing...so yeah I just talked to hubby about giving cortenema instead of suppository.
