Stomach Noises

Hey.

So I did the 'smart' thing and stopped taking drugs a good few months ago, well before Easter actually. I was pretty plased with myself. (of course this wasn't with doctors orders)

So few months later, and suddenly very tired, like i'm in a fog. (assumed I'd partied too hard) bit of mucous but nothing to worry about, no sprinting needed yet but OH MY GOD THE STOMACH NOISES! where have they come from, what is it, its like a beast? Does this mean I may be at the begginging of a very small flare? (i'm definately not hungry and its been going on for days) I have all my drugs at home, should I just go back on them?

used to take 125mg azathioprine (the one i wanted to stop) and 2mg of Mesalazine.

Yes, it's the beginning of something. The mucus is further proof. Take your meds! Stomach noises are always a sign of a flare for me. I think of my UC as a literal fire breathing dragon of some sort that lives in my guts. When I feed him drugs that work, he's happy and quiet. When I starve him (don't take meds or take the wrong ones), he gets all pissed off and noisy.

Ditto. It is the start of a flare but you can't just assume it will be a "small" flare. It could be the start of a huge flare that might not respond to meds. You should never go med free because UC is not a disease where if you start flaring again you can just do what you did before and expect it to work because future flares often get worse and what worked before sometimes doesn't work again or work as well and then you may wind up having to take even more higher tier meds. The game plan should be to always take meds, even while in remission, in order to have a better chance that you will not flare again at all. You are going to have to come clean with your doc because even though you can safely start the 2 grams of mesalamine immediately, you need doctors supervision and blood tests with the AZA and the AZA can often take 2-3 months to start seeing results.
