Best probiotic for constipation and increase gut transit time

This is for my son who does not have colitis and has severe constipation. Is there a probiotic which is good and works for consitpation.


If you know any low fodmap constipation remedy also please also let me know.

Have you tried aloe vera gel? It really helps to get things moving. I also find Psyllium husks bulk up the stool and move things along.

For probiotics, I personally like VSL #3 DS. You will need a prescription for it. I also like culturelle. There are so many probiotics. Make sure you read the label and see if they put other chemicals and fillers in it. I took Align once and it made me so sick.

My 7 year old daughter has constipation sometimes even though she eats so many vegetables. I give her FLorastor for kids and that seems to help her.

I have tried aloe vera gel with no success. My Son has SIBO C and so has to follow low fodmap diet.

How old is he? If he is young, I would go with Florastor for kids. I would get nervous giving a young child a hefty dose of probiotics.

For info only, you can buy VSL#3 regular strength with no prescription. Whether it will help with constipation or not I have no idea.

You could give the SCD yogurt a try or kefir. I'd probably do one or the other, not both. Google both of them and you will find lots of info. I doubt they are low fodmap though. It also takes some work on your part.

SCD yogurt made from Dannon makes his burping horrible.
