One thing I hate is when a cashier sneezes or coughs into their hand while they're serving me at the supermarket, then touches all of my food. I hate that!
My wife and I had a little recent discussion about
covering your mouth with your hand when you sneeze. She was annoyed that I didn't once, which many times I actually don't. Whenever I sneeze I like to lean down and point my head straight down aiming at the floor and then let it go with no hand coverage. I personally think people are fooling themselves if they think putting their hand in front of their mouth when they sneeze is actually hygienic. First, when you sneeze, it comes out at many miles per hour. Your hand can't possibly cover every bit of what comes out when you sneeze so plenty still gets by. On top of that, some of what comes out when you sneeze ricochets off your hand and goes who knows where. Then, of course, you have germs all over your hand and ring up people's groceries, shake people's hands, touch doorknobs, and even touch sink faucet handles, even if you were to immediately go to wash your hands. When I sneeze it does not get on my hands and just about
everything heads to the floor and whatever might possibly ricochet off the floor can't go too far, other than people's shoes picking it up and spreading it around. I say my way is much more hygienic than standing there in front of people and sneezing into your hand. I'm curious what others think.
