expirations on mesalamanine enemas?

it has been 1 1/2 yrs since I was in a bad flare and needed the mesalamanine enemas, so am using what I have from last flare. But i am wondering if i should be using them past their marked expiration date of 2/13. brand is perrigo. mesalamine 60 ml

I'd squirt out some liquid after shaking it up and see if it's discolored or off-smelling. If it's not I'd use it, and have used 1 year out of date mesalamine enemas in the past with no harm. You could also call your GI and ask but of course they will likely not go out on a limb.

thanks gardener, i hate the thought of tossing out the 4 boxes i originally was sent home with.

Generally they could survive up to a year past expire date but your mileage may vary, I have used expired enemas before but only used them if the liquid is not dark in color, it should be an offwhite light brown color, but I recommend you get new ones if you could.
