I hate it when a patient finds something that works and then insurance wants you to gamble on doing something different. Sometimes they wind up paying more in the end if what they switch you to doesn't work and then you have to try for something more expensive than the Apriso would have been. Not only are they rolling the dice on themselves but on your health as well, which is priceless. Sorry I don't have any personal experience with Colazal. Just wanted to rant.
PS: My doctor was going to switch me to generic Colazal from Lialda due to a change in insurance but I looked at the formulary myself and asked my GI for Pentasa instead, which has worked out well for me. Pentasa had the same mesalamine inside as the Lialda did so it wasn't as much of having a completely different med than the Lialda was.
