Ladies - Do your meds mess with your menstrual cycle?

Since starting Imuran (my second try), I seem to just be repeating the PMS and period weeks of my menstrual cycle over and over. My skin and hair are greasy, my breasts are swollen, and I'm getting two periods a month while on birth control pills.

Have your maintenance meds messed up your cycle?

No, I'm on Humira and I still suffer the same way I always have since getting sick especially since getting IBS on top of crohn's colitis, the IBS and monthly cycles are brutal but my crohn's colitis meds don't cause any changes for my monthly cycles, they've remained lousy as usual but I'm blaming the IBS for it.

That's really strange. What does the gyn say? Are you in remission or flaring? Are you on the pill or something that avoids the digestive tract?

I have always had a normal cycle regardless of UC meds. I've been on a pill with no period for th epast few years, so i haven't been getting it at all. I hated getting it, this has been wonderful.

I know, right? I think it's weird too. I'm on ortho tri cyclen lo. I actually switched from the patch (which I loved) when I got diagnosed with UC because the lower dose of hormones didn't mess with my stomach. But thanks to the birth control, my cycle is normally like clockwork.
I'm in clinical remission per a scope I had a few weeks ago, but still experiencing symptoms. Urgency, 6-8 bathroom trips per day, mucus but no blood. The Imuran actually seems to be starting to help with my UC symptoms, but I'm kind of freaked out about these side effects. I left a message for my gastroenterologist's office this morning because my next appointment isn't until mid-December. I have an appointment with my gynecologist in 2 weeks, but when I called them, they basically said, "Talk to your GI."

Ugh, that is super weird! I've been on most meds and always on birth control and never had any issues. I do definitely have worsening symptoms while on my period, which is a pretty well documented correlation, but haven't read anything about treatments themselves interfering with cycles. Fingers crossed you get an answer ASAP.

When taking steroids my cycle is a mess, but otherwise it is pretty regular. Mainly I get spotting if I am on steroids and I ovulate at strange times in my cycle, usually very soon after my period. It stinks. I just had one of the worst periods I have ever had (I am flaring now) and it made my symptoms much worse. I also found out on 10/1 that I have a cyst on my left ovary, but it looks like it is resolving on its own. I have to go back for a repeat ultrasound in 5 weeks to check on it.
