i am torn on what to do now. i missed my october shot and i feel great. my ibs is gone and i have no symptoms of anything. just a perfect crap every day or every other day and i'm good.

i'm not sure what to do. i know biologics alter the gut bacteria due to their immune suppression. i wonder if my bacteria doesn't like it?

ahhh opinions please?

i know my doctor will say keep taking your shot because he's a doctor. i'm looking for a patient's opinion though.

Well, it seems to me you are doing pretty well. The issue I would have is the unknown. If you don't bother taking the shot, what happens if you flare again? Are you back to square 1, worse off, or are has the nicotine really solved your issues?

If it works for your dad, it could work for you, too.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but I imagine what I am thinking is also what you are thinking!

momto2, yeah, the unknown is what is scary for me. this is my last UC med and if i build antibodies to it, i am screwed if i flare. i can't take entyvio due to the high rate of c diff.

obviously, id like to take medication only if i know it works. i started the nicotine when i was on imuran, prednisone, and simponi because i was flaring. i was able to get off prednisone that way and just stayed on the others. i know imuran has never done jack for me either haha

If it's your last uc medication then I wouldn't risk it. I'd take your meds once they're apprived. Simponi might still be in your vains enough to keep the symptoms away, give it long enough you just might flare.

I would continue with Simponi, especially if you're doing well with it.

Cimzia is probably next to be approved, it is already approved for CD. I just started using Cimzia last week for my pouchitis; so far so good...it all ready started working for me.

Agree with stated above. That you should not risk hour last med if you are adamant against surgery. You can always see a second GI for a new approach.

yeah, i think you guys are right. even if simponi does 10% of the work against my UC inflammation, i'd be a fool to stop a good thing. i know it look a long time for me to be flare free.
