What to try if remi stops working

Ive been moderately improved on 18 mos of remi, but i dont think remi has actually been that helpful. Im worsening now after a recent infusion so I can point to that as remi being an ineffective treatment.

What is often next, other than a higher dose, aza or humira? Anything to expect on either?

Normally a higher dose is the next step. Remicade worked great for me but only at the double dose levels and at 6 week intervals; I was on it for almost 5 years. You may want to combine it with Aza, imuran or 6-mp. The larger dose will probably work quicker than if you switched to a new medicine and had to wait for the new treatment to work.

So far Remicade is the most effective biological for UC. People usually try Humira next, then simponi and Entyvio.

Agree with the above to increase frequency and or dosage
Also get tested for pathogens.

If you got any response from remicade then the dose and frequency can be increased up to a maximum of 10mgs per kilogram every 4 weeks.

If you're ready to try something new, maybe that could work better, then your options are humira, simponi, or entvyio on the biologic side.

6mp or Imuran is often used concurrently with remicade, in particular.
