Driving to your colonoscopy

I know you can't drive after a colonoscopy but does anyone ever drive to it?? I have never had this issue, my husband drives me there and back. I wouldn't want to drive on the way there, but that doesn't mean a lot since I don't drive at all!

Thus, my issue. My (non-UC) husband is having his first c-scope in a few weeks. He needs to be at the hospital at 7:30 am. I will be going with him, but not driving. He has arranged for a co-worker who lives out this way to drive us back home in his car. Do you think he will be up to driving in the morning after the prep? He is much hardier than I am, so he might not be the physical wreck I am after the prep. But with it being his first time, we don't really know that.

There should be no issue with him driving, if it's not a long drive...the prep by the time you head out on the road should have him cleared out and no surprises but he may feel a bit weak, so if it's not a long drive then it should be fine, everyone is different.

He'll be able to gauge how he's feeling in the morning before you leave for the appointment but since he's got a co-worker to do the driving anyway then hubby driving to the appointment makes no difference either way really.

Oh, I get it now, well if worse come to worse and he's not feeling up to driving there then you could always take a cab then have co-worker come pick you guys up after, but yeah, he should be fine to drive there, always good to have a back up plan though.

I never have any trouble driving myself and spouse (I like to be in the drivers seat ha) and my scope center is an hour away. I always get the latest appt they will give me which is not late enough lol. The last time we got stuck in a godawful traffic jam and had to call the center to say we'd be late. Turned out an accident on the interstate funneled thousands more cars than normal on the main north-south road but we had no idea what was going on at the time. So nice to have extra stress added on to that day (not).

Most people are not unable to function after prep. Starting prep a little earlier or having a later appointment can help insure there is no urgency while driving.

I have always use 2 10oz Mag Citrate, and never had problems.
