Flagyl and black stool

I have mild UC. I started having upper stomach troubles and watery diarrhea 2 weeks ago. This changed into lower stomach cramps and pain.

Went to GI exam, he prescribed me UC drugs and 10 days of Flagyl (400mg, 3 times a day) and a C. Difficile test. He didn't exactly tell me anything. He just wrote the therapy. I am guessing he thinks I have C. Difficile and that this is what Flagyl is for.

This was 3 days ago. Currently there is very little pain/craps/urgency involved, but the diarrhea ranges from heavily watered to mushy. What worries me is that it is black!

I can't call the GI, this is how they work (if you want to see him, you make an appointment). It sucks! I will eventually go to a private clinic.

The question is, should I be worried about the black stool? I read that it can be a side effect of Flagyl. Did you ever take Flagyl? Did you have black stools?

My cat is on Flagy right now and has black stool... really. I was told it will pass. For myself in the past I just had 'dark' and loose stool from it. Not D but not solid. And not black but fairly 'dark'. Went away after stopping it. Not sure what to suggest.

Yes, it's not black black... it's brown black. Smells less than when it was brown.

I've read that black stool is a sign of bleeding in the upper parts of GI tract. I hope that's not the case and probably if it was, I would be in pain... I hope.
