I did not like enemas when I first tried them, in fact hated them. They seemed to generate BM's and were difficult to use, retain, etc. It took real desperation on my part to try them again and keep trying them until things got better. And they did get better.
Even today, because I rarely need them, when I do use one the "adjustment" happens all over again until my butt gets used to them. It's a love/hate kinda thing with me but they do soooo much more than suppositories do.
This recent time using an enema it was rejected under 10 minutes. Bleh. As it turned out in this particular case it was a hemmie causing small amount of blood and I think the suspension liquid irritated that area (just a guess).
Keep trying the enemas and hope that they work for you. One of the most effective and safe meds we UC'ers have.
