it seems only 17% got remission, which is a little lower than other TNF-alpha. But 17% remission, and excellent maintenance for that 17% is not bad for a subcutaneous monthly injection.

"3,761 patients were randomized to receive one of two of the previously mentioned induction golimumab regimens or placebo. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients achieving a clinical response at week 6 in each treatment arm. Clinical response was defined as a reduction in the full Mayo Score of at least 30% and three points from baseline with either a decrease in the rectal bleeding sub-score ≥1 from baseline or a rectal bleeding sub-score of 0 or 1. At week 6, clinical response was recorded in 51% and 54.9% of actively treated patients compared with 30.3% of the placebo group (P<0.0001 for both comparisons), with a therapeutic gain of golimumab over placebo of approximately 20% (Table 2). Furthermore, at week 6, patients who received golimumab were significantly more likely to achieve clinical remission and mucosal healing, to reduce C-reactive protein (CRP) and improve their quality of life compared to those who received placebo. Clinical remission at week 6 (defined as a full Mayo Score ≤2 with no individual sub-score >1) was achieved in 17.8 8% and 17.9% of patients who received golimumab at low and high dose regimens, respectively, compared to 6.4% of patients treated with placebo (P<0.0001 for both comparisons; Table 2). Complete endoscopic remission (Mayo endoscopy score of 0 or 1) rates were significantly higher than in controls: 42.3% and 45.1% in patients receiving golimumab 200/100 and 400/200 mg vs 28.7% (P=0.0014 and P<0.001, respectively; Table 2)."

Simponi was the first biologic I tried. I read the marketing packet and I was convinced it would help me!! Unfortunately it did nothing. I guess for people who respond to TNF blockers, it could be a good option.

This has been in use for UC for about 3-4 years now, has to be an old article.

I have been on it for almost 2 years....put me into 100% remission within 3-4 months and have not looked back. Eat anything, go anywhere, poop every 24-36 hours and life is good for the first time in about 15 years.
