I am right there with you...our stories are very parallel except that I wasn't pregnant. I have ovarian cysts and endometriosis. Each time those act up, my uc flares. I don't have words of wisdom, only want to say you are not alone. So many people including doctors tell me the gyn problems aren't related but I've had to obgyn and a GI agree they are.
As I sit here in the hospital baffled by a flare that started 2 weeks after my remicade infusion when I've been fine for 4 months I'm practically at wits end. I can't have gyn surgery to heal the colon and can't heal the colon with the gyn issue.
Just want you to know I'm sending positive thoughts your way and I know we will find answers!
I also have PCOS and endo, and have found that low dose birth control improves my UC symptoms (as well as the PCOS and endo symptoms). Before, I was having 2 week-long periods a month and even with only mild inflammation, I was still going 10 times a day with urgency. It was hard to differentiate when abdominal pain and cramping was from my period and UC, but I think it's pretty safe to say that each made the other worse.
Ortho tri cyclen low calms down my hormone changes and symptoms.
