I've had a flare up since last August which started out as 5 BM's a day, soft stools, moderate urgency and blood. I got into remission in September after using 4.5g Pentasa and 1g Asacol Sappositories.
I then started mildly bleeding again after doing a Flexi Sig at the GI's request which lasted 3 months but had no other symptoms. GI put me on Salofalk Enema's which I took for 6 weeks. I also really hurt my rectal area with relentless poking and prodding every time I visited him. In the end discontinuing my Enema's stopped the bleeding. GI said they must have been irritating me and that historically I've never done well on rectals meds. My rectum hasn't been the same since and I have soreness there after BM's and my farting just hasn't been normal.
I moved to Seattle 7 weeks ago and have been quite well since I started Metamucil fiber capsules and Vitamin D. My stools are firm and bulky, I have 2 normal bowel movements a day and do not have urgency or any pain, thank God.
However, stubborn symptoms remain. I have bouts of mild mucus only e.g. Just now first thing in the morning I had a couple of small pieces of mucus come on its own before the stool. The BM was completely normal. I also saw an absolute tiny speck of blood on the tissue like one millimeter dot and the same on the stool. The soreness suggest a Fissure but my anxiety makes me think a million other things.
I'm thinking with normal to firm stools and in the absence of urgency, frequency and loose stools this could well be Hemmies and possibly a small fissure.
The mucus confuses me.
I visit my new GI in 10 days but want to avoid needless tests. Do any of you have any suggestions on why I'm having pink mucus on its own and how I can stop it?
