I hope it's true. On the other hand I am in my 40's and I have been hearing about magic bullets against cancer since I was 5 years old.

I think it is interesting that the article is assuming that Crohn's may not be an autoimmune disease but a hidden MAP infection:

Very true. We always hear about magical cures or vaccines. I'm just hoping that this is true because my daughter, who is very genetically similar to me, has already been diagnosed with IBS at the tender age of 16, and I am TERRIFIED that she may get the "trigger". So a vaccine to prevent this would be a godsend for the younger generation.

Also, many of our UC treatments follow after CD so if they can truly find the cause of CD, then maybe the cause for UC will follow.

I have faith that this is actually true. I've been following Irishgal and Canada Mark's posts about this and I've read and watched all the symposiums in regards to Dr. Taylor and his extensive research on MAP and IBD so I'm leaning towards this link as also being legit.

The research is legitimate. There seems no doubt that MAP is found in high incidence in those with Crohn's according to the new blood test that they have developed. The argument is over whether it is causative or if not causative exacerbates.

I hope they're right, a vaccine sounds a heck of a lot better than all of these steroids, pills, regular remicade injections and other junk we take.

By the times its openly available we will all be 10 years older. Depressing reading this type of thing. Hardly anything has changed in IBD since I've had it these past 9 years.

I'm hoping it's true, although as LondonRed said we'll still have to wait another 10 years for it. For me, that's an awfully, awfully long time to hang on for.

I've honestly thought about putting myself forward as a guinea pig - I'd happily sign any number of disclaimer forms. My surgery makes me ineligible for Crohn's trials unfortunately.

There is a facebook page specifically for those working on fundraising efforts for the vaccine and Dr Hermon-Taylor's daughter, who is a GP I think, is active on it. They have been offering the test in London to those who fundraise and post updates often about what is happening. I won't post the link in case it is not allowed but it is very interesting to follow what they are doing.

There seems little evidence for MAP in UC. The evidence for a causal role in CD is mixed. Some says yes, some not.

It is also not clear the vaccine will work after MAP infection.

I hope for the best.
