Pred withdrawal still going on after 4 weeks!

I have been off Pred for 4 weeks exactly, but still feeling exhausted and sick. I was on iv steroids in hospital and a long course, but should I still be feeling like crap 4 whole weeks later? Answers on a postcard?

I agree with DB. How long were you on the steroids total? I've heard people say the side effects last longer when you're on them longer.

Exhaustion can be caused by anemia (low iron in the blood) have you had a blood test to check for this? Prednisone puts your adrenal system to sleep, and once you discontinue pred then your adrenals should wake up. If your adrenals don't wake up then you'd experience fatigue, body aches, etc. Certainly call your gastroenterologist and tell him/her what you're experiencing.

Thanks all! I was even wondering whether 5 mg every other day might help, but best to go to the Dr if it doesn't get better soon. I'm going on a sun holiday so hoping that might help, as long as I have the energy to get on the plane. Tough drug….

Thanks ipoop. It's five weeks - now have really bad vertigo and feel exhausted on waking! It feels never ending. I asked the hospital doctor the other day and she said it will pass, but it's really slow. I guess I feel better than 2 weeks ago and rarely need a daytime nap, but it is tougher than ever before! I always say never again, but don't want to jinx it this time!
