Imuran Fever

Hi all, looking for advice. I started Imuran about 3 weeks ago, 50 mg for 7 days, 100 mg for 5 days and then upped to 150 mg. After 5 days on the 150 mg which was Friday I developed a fever of 101 with chills, bad night sweats and body aches. Went to a walk in clinic on Saturday - urine, strep and flu all negative. Stopped the Imuran on Saturday. Today the fever, so far, is gone. GI wants me to restart the Imuran after I have been fever free for a few days and advise if the fever returns. So should I just take 50 mg and see what happens or take the 150 mg? I really think it's the Imuran that is causing the fever because aside from that I didn't have any other symptoms - no sore throat, cough, etc. I had been having daily headaches when I went to 150 mg. Honestly I trust you guys more than the GI as I have learned more from this site and everyone's experience. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

BTW, we have 6 kids in the house and my husband and I - nobody else is sick.

I had my first set of blood tests on Monday, 21st, fever started Friday morning, 24th. All the numbers were fine. They didn't do blood work at the clinic, probably because I just had it done on Monday. How quickly could those numbers fluctuate?

Question, did you have any symptoms when your liver was impacted or was it just the test results that pointed to it? Have been doing some further research and if the Imuran caused the fever a smaller does of the med will cause a reaction so I am doing the lower dose and I'll see how it goes. Fever is still gone so that's good news.
