I am sorry you're having to consider all of this. It's a stressful thing to worry about. If you have surgery, the chances of getting pregnant are reduced. I had surgery and my surgeon said they go to great lengths to protect your ability to have children, but I am not trying (and I never will), so who knows... If you read on jpouch.org, a lot of women do get pregnant after, but others struggle. I would hope you're able to have children before surgery, I think that is probably the best option... hopefully you don't ever need surgery. Most UCers don't. It's probably 20% who end up needing surgery, so I wouldn't assume you will be one of us. We have had a few members here have children while on UC meds and they have done well. I think the most important thing is to keep the UC well manged so you can have a healthy pregnancy. You have a ton of options before surgery.
