Been on pred since last Tuesday (over a week), hydrocortisone enemas for a few days, Imuran (last 10 years). Not a ton of D, but mostly blood which used it be liquid and turning the toilet bright red with water...to going to globs of blood. I called the doc on wed and she added enemas but not helping. Is one worse than the other? I don't feel any better :( idk what to do.

It took two full weeks of pred for me to see a difference in bleeding.

It took me 3 weeks for prednisone to mostly control my flare symptoms. What's your Imuran dose and your weight? Imuran is dose at 1.5 to 2.5 milograms per kilogram. I'm 68 kilograms, so they'd be 102 milligrams to 170milligrams per day in dosing, for me.

Yea I guess I always thought it worked quicker. Maybe be they always gave me a bigger dose previously. So it could be like this for another week?!!

yo should ask higher dose and not to taper until you get control

Possibly although hmm 20mgs of prednisone really isn't much... 40mgs of prednisone is typical. At 40mgs it took me 3 weeks to see big improvements. I always respond slowly, it seems, to all uc medications. Some respond in days, others a weeks, and others multiple weeks. Getting the right prednisone dosage is helpful in it working fast.

I'd ask about the low prednisone dose.

I saw the physicians assistant and she started me on 30 mg and start to taper 5 mg every 5 days. I called in a week and they said still continue to taper and add the enemas. So now I'm down to 20mg and enemas. She said call in a week if it's still not better. I'm like- I have a colonoscopy with you in a week lady!! Again, new doc. My parents have her and love her. Me, not so much.

The weird part is, little to no D. The PA said that every flare is diff and sometimes you get little D and sometimes a lot- just depends on the extent of the flare.
