I agree with DB. An option might be allopurinol + 6mp. Do you go to an IBD specialist? If not, now might be a good time to get a 2nd opinion. You could try another 5ASA too. I think you're on the right track, get the antibody levels checked, the the sigmoidoscopy to see what's going on. Can you do stool tests and a calprotectin? After that, you will have a much better idea of whether it's worth continuing to pursue Remicade or if it's time to move on to something else. You still have a lot of options before surgery. It just depends, if you're truly refractory or not responding, like my case, it got to the point where I knew if I had another flare in a year or two or 5, I wasn't prepared to deal with it again in the future... I wasn't willing to give up living life for any amount of time due to a flare up :)

Hey nssg. So sorry I missed your post. I'm doing ok. Had remicade on the 29th. Things feel like they're calming down. Slowly as usual.

I had my flex sig done yesterday. In January I had 15 cm of mild inflammation at rectum/sigmoid juncture. Now it's a 10 cm patch of extremely mild inflammation. So I guess that's slow progress. My GI said if the patch was any where else in my colon I wouldn't even know I had uc. Everything else looks perfect. Even my bloodwork came back perfect. Said it was better than his. My crp is <.01.

Based on how things looked and my bloodwork he didn't want to add another immunosuppressive drug. He actually prescribed 2gr of curcumin a day with marinol (I'm 15 lbs under weight with no appetite). I now have the option to push up my next infusion. I can tell him in s couple weeks what I want to do. I see him again mid June and we will take it from there.

I left feeling bewildered to be honest. He said based on labs and how my colon looked I was in fabulous shape and believes he can get me to feeling better symptom wise and "fat". He hates that this 4 inch patch is where it is and is why I feel it so much.

I'm trying to stay optimistic. A weight has kind of been lifted. I was expecting remission every time I had an infusion. Now I know it may take some time.

You might not have got a perfect A+ grade, but you're certainly solid in the A or A- grade range, something I'd be quite happy about and proudly hang on my fridge (if it were me ). It sounds like you're doing well based on only mild inflammation seen in that patch and such low crp. I'd stay the course for a while and you may continue healing over a little more time. If you feel moving the infusion up is needed than I wouldn't hesitate (wait and see on your symptoms over the coming weeks).

Thank you so much guys. You have no idea how much the encouragement means. It's been such a mental rollercoaster. I thought every time I had symptoms I was back sliding but my GI said its because of the location of the patch. Which actually makes me feel much better. And will hopefully stop me from spiraling.

I definitely have IBS. I had it before ibd. Anytime I get anxious nervous or upset my stomach has always gone crazy.

My symptoms come and go- mild cramping, mucus on tp, bits of blood on tp. My GI says it's just location from stool running over the patch. The 7 weeks leading up to my latest infusion were very rocky. I tapered oral pred to 0, tapered steroid enemas, quit smoking cigs, tapered nicotine patches from 14 to 7mg, attempted a job. Lol. A LOT. I'm done changing anything for now. So I will finally be able to see what's what.

iPoop you're exactly right. Going to see how the next couple weeks go and then decide on pushing up infusion. I have no issues pushing it up if things seem off.

Nssg I can't restrict my diet too much. I need to gain weight desperately. It's starting to affect my energy levels on top of everything else. I'm eating smart. But I gotta eat a ton of smart. Lol.

Hi doggie. Yes I'm actually drinking orgain shakes. They are vegan so no whey or funky ingredients with 16 gr of protein. Im also eating rise protein bars. I eat the sunbutter cinnamon. They only have 5 ingredients.

I need to keep adding!!
