I just started curcumin. I'm using Drs Best c3 with bioperine. Taking 2.5 g a day.
I'm getting mixed info on the bioperine. Is this additive a problem for people with uc? I was told it enables the absorption. But then was told it's not good for people with uc.
Anyone have info or experience on this? If you're taking curcumin- what brand are you using and how are you handling absorption?

Unfortunately its never been studied so we dont know. There are unverified theories that can support having it and not having it. I just bought the same brand as you. Should be fine. If it doesnt help after 3 months, might be worth trying one without

I posted a caution on curcumin about
a month ago.
Makes me bleed excessively, not from the rectum but from cuts.
I bled all over the kitchen, and it took about
20 minutes to stop from a little 1/4 inch cut.

I take Dr's best and it doesn't seem to bother me. The only thing I will say is that when I took 3 g a day it made me bleed like crazy, now I take either 1.5 or 2 g a day, depending on my mood.

@old Mike- yes I've read it's a blood thinner
@mom - yes I've noticed increased bleeding as well. It's also kicked up my IBS so my GI advised me to stop. I gave it a week and things slowly progressed downward. Worth a shot. Hopefully by stopping it remicade will kick the rest of my symptoms. I just want the blood to stop! Mucus is gone. Hopefully frequency will get back down to normal too after curcumin is out of my system. I've always had a sensitive stomach even pre uc. Pepper doesn't agree with me and I should have known better.
