Sudden & severe flare - Steroids, Imuran and Mesalamine Medications doesn't seem to help

Sorry if I'm posting too many times these days, my older posts were about alternative medicines, diet & reducing my steroid dosage but last Friday, my symptoms worsened considerably.
I've never been able go into full remission but as long as I didn't consume and nuts or milk, I was doing well with around 20 mgs of Deltacortril(prednisolone) and Salofalk(Mesalamine, both oral and as suppository). Last Friday night homever, like I told some of you in my previous post, I tried a nicotine patch and it all went to hell.
My bleeding & abdominal pain came back with a vengeance, I consulted my doctor and increased my pred dosage to 30, then 40 then yesterday I also added 100 mg Imuran and switched to Salofalk enema.

Pred always worked for me until now, it usually reduces my BMs and stops the bleeding in two or three days tops, especially at this dosage. Last month for instance, around 5 weeks ago I had a bad bleeding for a couple days and it worked immediately. But not this time, I seem to be just a bit better but bleeding hasn't stopped at all. Sometimes it comes mixed in stool, sometimes afterwards. Could this be something different than UC? Could this be some kind of infection? Or is it possible that I lost my response to steroids? I'll try finding a GI first thing in the morning tomorrow but I'd still like your opinions on the matter. I know I shouldn't be using steroids as my go to med, but if I lost response to them, I don't know what I would do...

Could be a bad flare, each flare is different, so don't expect the same exact medication response each time.

Ask for a stool sample kit, it could be a c diff infection which mirrors uc symptoms. We're more prone to them.

Not saying that steroids can't lose their stuff after a while but I was also thinking of C-diff or some other kind of invader. Stool samples would definitely be a good idea. I hope that you feel better soon.

For me each time I start back on prednisone it takes it linger to kick in. The first time it took 2-3 days, then a week and this last time it took 3 weeks. I had a kick start with iv steroids last time. Not recommending it right now for you but it's always an option. Upside is that it kicks in pretty quickly, downside it warrants a trip to ER. Again not advocating for that just letting you know what helped me.

You might want to go on low residue diet and very low fat diet until you see the doc.
Steatorrhea or excessively greasy Ds mean you are not absorbing and just passing.
Peeled potatoes, white pasta, bread, crackers, pretzels... Might be the safest bet
Try to drink as much as you can until then
Hot packs can do wonders for pain.

If your stool tests come back negativr, I would consider biologics.

If you need to go to the ER make sure it's at a hospital with a good GI team
Even if this means traveling a bit.
This is the worst week to flare becuse all the major GI went to San Diego for DDW16
