just when i thought things couldn't get worse

Still waiting cdiff results...

Last night terrible rectal pain. much like I had for 4 months last year with the abscess. I did cortifoam as usual and was in excruciating rectal pain. Burn baby burn.

All day today intense rectal pressure, extremely uncomfy, can't really concentrate due to pain. Every time I have a bm (7 water so far) it's agony. I'm yelling on the toilet. Tears in my eyes.

had 2 hot sitz baths. Can't believe I'm going through this again. No idea if suddenly I've developed another abscess or this is because of abx induced flare. Either way I'm more miserable.

I don't think I'll use the enema tonight. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I can actually feel my rectum and it's not pleasant.

Ok. Make that 8 and I missed the toilet....


I've taken a morphine for rectal pain although pain killers didn't help last time nor did lidocaine which I inserted rectally. It could just be severe irritation from all this pooping. I was also passing pentasa which was scrapp;ing my rectum since I'm just passing water.

Does anyone know what happens to lab results over holidays/weekends? Cdiff results supposed to come back tomorrow but it's a holiday here. Does that mean if I test positive, I won't find out until my GI returns to work on Monday?

I hope I test positive so I can get on treatment...although that involves another abx....which I'm now terrified of.

I don't know what happens to the results here either. Maybe just keep calling and leaving messages or email.

Can you get down to the Hospital? If there is extreme pain with a BM then you really need to be seen. Also the hospital would be able to look into the results possibly - or rapid test you. It's hard and it sucks to even try to get there, but maybe it is the best...

Thanks Deb...never heard of it but I had a bit of prep H and that seemed to have helped a bit. It seems like it's just burning.

Canada- emailed GI but with the holiday /weekend I doubt he'll respond. As it stands now I have IG Monday. It won't be enough though. Will try & organize things so I can go to hospital if I don't hear from him today. I hate going but it may expedite a dx & tx.


The last time my bowel was like this was 2 yrs ago. I'm not going 40 times but I'm already escalating:(.

I hope this is "just" cdiff.

Good news! GI called in vancomycin!! Fingers crossed this works. I need relief!

Will take it with florostor.

Any idea how long it will take to kick in? I read a side effect is bloody/watery d. I hope I'm spared.

I am happy for you! Perhaps you will see results quickly - I've also never had c diff so I can't really say how long... It sounds like something sinister is going on. Really, all those antibiotics and a weak system, I would think c diff is very likely.

My test results haven't come back. I guess he's going on my symptoms/history & the fact that I said I was going to hospital.

Last time I had c-diff bowel was immediately better after 1 dose of flagyl. This time flagyl & 2 other abx were the culprit. Perhaps I now have a stronger case for FMT. Dr Christine Lee from MC Master is apparently doing a study.

But for now let me strap on my diaper & head down to the pharmacy to pick up this drug so I can get better! Enough already! Between the diaper & my rectal burning I'm walking like a cowboy & go to sit down like I'm
