Had my ANA's checked post really high LFTs

Hi I got my anti nuclear antibody tests results back today. I'm Igg normal, but ASMA's high, could be possible ERCP in my future to rule out autoimmune hepatitis and/or gallbladder issues (possible PSC or PBS). My LFTs were in the hundreds, GGT thousands and Rx statins indicated as LFTs/GGT when down astronomically after cessation of statin. But my high anti smooth muscle antibody was 37. A low high as I understand it. My GI has already suggested an ERCP to rule out gallbladder issues but I'm terrified of this procedure. Thoughts?

My GI Doc felt a mass in my stomach and sent me for a cat scan
It showed a mass in my main bile duct !
No MRI for me I have a Pacemaker so I then went for an Endoscopic Ultrasound
And believe me I had Sludge in my main Bile Duct
I asked the Doc if he made that term up?
So the next trip was for an ERCP to remove the sludge
None of those procedures were painful and I was happy it could be fixed
This all happened 3 years ago and except for my U C I have been fine turn

thanks for clearing that up zg - whew ! we're scheduled to head that direction next month, but would have reconsidered on account of your apparent driving challenges smilewinkgrin

My thoughts....DO NOT HAVE ERCP unless you absolufely need one. Have an MRCP which is an mri of that that area, or an ultrasound for a quick look-see if yiu have stones. Noninvasive. Just trying to save you from the possible side effects from an ercp. If you have a blockage....the ercp will be helpful. For exploration, seems not necessary.

Please get your AMA checked to see if PBC ...primary biliary cholangitis..is a possibility.

With the suggestion of no ERCP, the same goes for liver biopsy.

I was very happy to follow Quincy's advice several years ago when my LFTs were high. I opted to wait a few months (6?) and retest. LFTs went back to normal.

ERCP (or biopsy) seem like an awfully big step just to see what's going on.
