I've had 2 days to research candida & im
Convinced this is what's going on, especially with the gerd& voracious gas. They've swabbed my vaj ---which actually hurt, but they don't seem convinced I require the pill. It seems like I'm asking for meth or something. Any ideas why I'm running into resistence? I think I may need to purchase on the black market:)

I had swish and swallow for my throat so if you get that at least you will be getting something in you, but you likely need the pills too.

You may need an internal medicine doctor to get your treatment for the yeast though a GI specialist should know about yeast infections too. Normally yeast is kept in check by good bacteria in our bodies. When all those antibiotics killed off all the good bacteria I suspect that let the yeast go crazy and grow like crazy.

When I had it I also had the pills, but the liquid definitely helped my throat. You probably need the pills too but it's a start.

When you say liquid, do you mean Nystatin? If so I believe the 'swish' version is the same as the 'swish and swallow' anyway but maybe without the banana flavouring, but for sure verify that with your pharmacist first or if you can walk down to the hospital pharmacist and ask. That is what my family doctor said the other week when she prescribed it for me. Others on here might know.

For me she said swish it around in my mouth and gargle for as long as possible and then swallow. And she also said that Nystatin was very safe to ingest, but that Difulcan can cause liver issues and was riskier.

If it helps any my dose was 500,000 iu 4x daily for one week. Swish around and then swallow.

How can they not tell your doctor that you are there? How crazy is that. I hope the nystatin starts to help soon.

Even if there was lobster in front of me I wouldn't touch it. Gas pain is unreal. No food for MRI which is scheduled for 11. Depending on what that says....another drainage. Abscess filled yesterday & burst on its own though.

What a nightmare!!..hang in there.

Ugh.... fistulas are such pain in the ***. And can be very painful until they open. I have what is called a complex fistula - so there are multiple fistulas and and openings right by my butt. Sucks. But it has been inactive for the most part for the last two years as long as I have solid stool. With D, I see discharge.

So after all that they just gave you an anti-fungal and sent you home?

Also, others may correct me, but I think fistulas are most often seen with Crohn's Disease... not UC... Soooo... Maybe you really have Crohns-Colitis like me and a few others on here. Will be interesting to hear what your GI says about this.
