I think everyone here can relate to some extent. Try to think positive, there are tons of things you could try aside from surgery. I think SCD is a great idea. Maybe the skin and eye issues will clear up. As for infections, anything that reduces the immune system can cause the increased potential for infections and sores that don't heal - or don't heal quickly. Have you had the test to check for antibodies? Entyvio might be a good options...
I am sure the prednisone isn't helping with your mental state. I always felt down on that drug, just bad about myself all the time. I don't know how anyone tolerated being around me. It's the worst when you have to accept that it's necessary to get past a hurdle, but often with UC, it is. I had surgery and I have been healthier than I've been in a long time, simply from being free of drugs that were reducing my blood counts and making me catch every germ that went around - at the same time, you have to be realistic, there are no guarantees that the things you're dealing with are from the drugs. What if you had surgery and they were still an issue? Would it be worth it to be free of UC, at the cost of using the toilet more often if you still had the other issues? For some yes, for others, perhaps no.
