Unusual problem with UC

I am newly diagnosed with uc and have an unusual problem. I cant stand or walk without getting a stomachache and abdominal pain. Therefore i am doing alit of sitting. Its cramping my lifestyle and i hate it. Has anyone experienced this???

Hi....welcome to the forum forum.

Are you in a severe flare and what meds are you on?

I would say that during some flares I have had gas and spasming that took my breath away and I doubled over in pain, but that wasn't something that was a normal unless it was during bms. Then it was hell.

Are you female and having a period?

What are your bms like and what is the extent of your UC...throughout or limited to where?

Hi and welcome

I don't ever recall anyone saying they had this symptom and for sure it will limit your life. My worst time was worrying about urgent need for a bathroom to the point of not wanting to leave the house.

Have you discussed this with your GI? And had X-rays, etc to make sure it's not something else?
Abdominal pain could be UC of course but yours seems way beyond "normal" UC symptoms. And if you are female it could be related to ovary or endometriosis. i went through a period many years ago when I couldn't tell what was UC and what was female issues (turned out to be benign growth causing bleeding).

I hope you can figure it out but it will take some work and tests.

At the worst time of my UC, I was going to the bathroom at least 30 times a day. I couldn't stand, I couldn't walk.

Please tell us what you are doing to control your UC. What meds or diet modifications are you on. If we know more of your circumstance the more we might be able to help you.

I have a similar problem, I get very gassy at times and when I'm standing or sitting it's like it gets trapped. I can only alleviate it by lying on my left side in the fetal position and letting rip - that usually does the trick! I recall going on road trips with my ex-partner and laying in the back seat while he was driving so I could get some relief. I haven't found a more effective solution as yet which is a
pain when I'm in a silent agony at work and can't even pass it when I go to the bathroom.

It's possible to have sharp pains in the abdomen from uc when flaring really badly (like 20+ bms a day), it's possible to have pains from trapped gas in the digestive tract, it's also possible to have pains unrelated to uc in your abdomen (gallbladder or kidney stones, pancreatic pains, and cysts and other issues in the uterus) which require medical attention. Just make sure you're certain of the exact cause of those pains, and see a doctor or nurse if you need clarification.

Not so unusual really. Pancolitis did this to me.
