I am here for you! Hopefully you don't need to have surgery, but if you do, you're young enough that you can get through it easily. I kind of had it sooner than later, because I felt like if I didn't, i would be facing at later on in life, and a jpouch may not be recommended. I know people get them in their 50s, but 60s or 70s? Not to say life would be terrible if I had to have the ileo, but I wanted to have the jpouch if possible. I am sure you can do it later in life if you're otherwise healthy, but it's going to be harder on you. Plus, I had already lost so much valuable time to sickness, drugs, doctors appointments. Not to say life is perfect with my pouch, I go a lot more, I'd love to go once a day, but the only way I got that was with high doses of prednisone. I'd rather go more, and not take drugs, and be petite & healthy. Chubby + pizza face + hairy + sick + spending loads on doctors and drugs + fear of accident = unhappy person.
Enjoy your trip. You will see how you feel after the consult. I felt like the consult immediately made me feel more at ease with the idea of surgery - but you do need a very experienced surgeon... No one tried to push me either. I was at the point where I was really tired of it all - no pushing was necessary. I assessed the facts presented, was scared as hell, and went for it.
