Ok so I got a good look at what's comes out, when I have an accident why? Because I was driving and wearing shorts...how fun! It's not mucus cuz that's white, it's yellow/green with blood and smell to high heaven!! So do all ulcers leak this pus/blood? I have been on asacol hd for over three months, I have not quit. Could food be getting stuck in my ulcers and cause this ?Like diverticulitis? Should I eat just soft food? I had granola a few days in a row. Any thoughts? Thanks all! I'm Still hanging around and hanging in there :)

I do not think all ulcers have pus. I do wonder if it is just bile mixed with mucus.

But, ulcers bleed and are inflammed. Pus means infection. Infection is different from ulceration.

It's sticky, slimy and thick like mucus, it's not bile . That's more yellow orang wish, this is not yellow yellow but greenish but not dark green. Like SNOT when you have a cold, there that best describes what come out with my poop, anot like stuff. I hope no one is eating right now , if so, sorry :( for the visual . What's up with this snot??

My doctor makes a distinction between the two for sure, clear to white he calls mucus, yellow/pink, stinky stuff is puss and it is from the ulcers. He says the colon produces this stuff as a way to keep the bad bacteria out of the ulcers, and it usually the first symptom of a flare up. Sorry you are dealing with this, might be time for some rectal meds.

Mucus is just cell shedding. Happens even to people like me who no longer have a colon.
