Swollen bump on butt

Hey, I've got more issues. I've got a thumb size swollen hard bump on my butt crack. At first I thought this was a swollen tailbone from sitting as that's the pain that it feels like but it seems to be off center and can't be my tailbone. Anyone any ideas? Anyone have something similar before?

I agree with Rodsr. It probably feels bigger than it actually is.

Is it at the top of your butt crack? It could be a pilonidal cyst which are very common even in the non-UC population.

Per symptoms and googling seems exactly like that. Guess I'm off to convenient care tomorrow.

I had a perianal abscess in that area. Mine was dead center. If that's what it is, you will know for sure soon because they either get so painful you'll be begging for drainage or it will burst on its own.

Well it was a pilonidal cyst I think. Definitely a abscess that got drained this morning. Holy hell did that hurt.....and still very uncomfortable to sit

Hopefully draining it gave you some relief and you'll be feeling better soon. I work in the operating room and we see these a lot usually in young adults.

Was it a cyst or abscess? Not the same thing.

It sounded like it was a pilonidal cyst from what he said. I've seen it referred to as a pilonidal abscess too. Sounds painful. Hopefully you're on the mend & feeling better already.

It's still pretty sore and hurts to sit on. But the doc said that's to be expected. I go back tomorrow for a check up. Either way, the most painful part was the flushing it out. Holy moly it burned. I'm not exactly sure on what exactly she said it was / I didn't specifically ask. I guess I'll ask at my checkup tomorrow. Just hoping there's no more road bumps left.

Hi...definitely ask what it is exactly. It's great younhave an appointment tomorrow as well rather than in 2 weeks. I would assume the flushing would be painful....hope it heals well.

Ive heard of pilonidal sinus as well as what nssg said. Havent checked out the differences, but i know that they many times have to be removed and have a tract in them like a fistula....at least from videos I had seen a while ago.

So...it's good to know what you have and for enquiring minds like we have 😆

Sounds painful, I hope that's the end of uc's troubles for you for a while. Time for a remission vacation.

Indeed, most people are like eew, we're like please, please more details.

It's good for you to know what you had should it get worse again, or happen again in the future. And we're all members of the same elite ulcerative colitis club here, so any one of us might someday get our own pilonidal cyst/abscess, or fistula. Therefore good to know the differences. Insert the "more you know" rainbow.
