Passing a lot of foul smelling wind

Doctors seem to be very focused on stool frequency, consistency, pain and so on ... but as for the more subtle signs ...

Is this a telltale sign of an inflamed colon? Is it always a sign that things are deteriorating or can it be a sign things are healing? Or is it not too important?

Not sure if it's due to your regular gut flora changing/dying or from the inflammation, or both/neither, honestly just guessing though. When my symptoms first started gas started to get particularly bad and then progressed to something along the lines of 'cruel and unusual punishment' ha.
