Whoops, apologies I meant grass fed. I really only try to consume proteins that were fed natural diets that they would typically be eating in the wild. With chicken, my biggest concern really is to just avoid corn fed since America loves to feed everything corn.
The great thing about turmeric is that it has it's own benefits in regards to colon cancer and cancer prevention. Personally, i'd much rather sprinkle turmeric on all of my food instead of sticking canasa up my bum and then having to deal with wet gas in the morning. UC or not, I honestly will continue to use turmeric because I actually love the way that it tastes now.
DBwithUC - Deff cheaper that's for sure. I would say that I just like to maintain a different perspective. I definitely don't disagree with your statement. This is the viewpoint that I like to hold - Just because a doctor is unable to currently cure me, that doesn't mean that it is uncurable. Not to sound corny, but our state of mind really does impact our actual health. If you're told that your condition is for life, and you then agree with that statement, you are basically affirming it to your body that this is the new norm...similar to a self fulfilling prophecy. When I use turmeric, i'm not thinking "o man I have to take my dose", it doesn't even remind me of UC to be honest because I just really really enjoy it now (it's just a healthy habit of mine now). I like to think that as long as I am taking care of my body, making the right choices, then my body will return to optimal health which I honestly feel like I can say that I am almost at that point already. I am completely aware of the other possible outcomes...but I choose to stay positive. One thing I also like to consider is the fact that our bodies are always changing. Just because I could easily handle sweets and alcohol when I was 19/20 doesn't mean that my body can handle it anymore. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's disease related, our bodies simply change and we need to adapt and simply learn what works for our bodies currently. I also try to convince myself that my UC was caused by me eating about 5 servings of peanuts every other day prior to when I first got diagnosed (which I now learned I am very sensitive to)....but who knows!
I started drinking warm lemon/lime water for a few reasons. My body was pretty acidic. I really do eat ALOT and a majority of the food that I was eating was acidic so I wanted to help balance my body out since lemons are extremely alkaline once inside of us. It's also antibacterial and helps flush out toxins. I actually enjoy it more than morning tea to be honest. If you haven't tried it you should. There really is no harm in giving it a shot, I don' t imagine it making anyone worse but we are all different so i'd start off with only half a lime or lemon. I'm crazy now because I actually carry turmeric and lemons with me wherever travel haha.
imagardener2 - Thank you for the heads up! You should try food grade here and there and see how you now react. I personally think you'd tolerate sprinkling some turmeric on your food better than taking the concentrate supplements. I tend to sprinkle it on all my food (eggs/chicken/beef/sweet potatoes/avocado/white rice etc). I feel like taking a lesser amount but much more frequently has worked better for me. I tend to have my biggest amount though in the morning about a half hour after I finish my lemon water, I put it on some organic whole eggs.
I also have digestive enzymes that I take if i'm eating a bigger meal or if I know i'm eating something that I really shouldn't be eating which has helped me.
Citrucel has also helped me in the past. Sometimes I'm in a rush and only prepare white rice for the day to go with all my meals so on days like that I like to just take citrucel.
Thank you all for the replies and hope you are all doing okay. When I was at my worst I was able to find a lot of great advice so I just wanted to share my experience.
