Mesalamine enema making things worse?

Hi. I'm new to this site, and fairly new to my colitis diagnosis. I was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis after the birth of my son. Without going into a ton of detail, it has been up and down in terms of managing it, but so far have only taken Canasa as needed. I have had increasing symptoms and have needed the Canasa more regularly, so my GI doc recommended trying mesalamine enemas before scoping again to see if that made a difference. The first two days seemed normal to me and I felt ok. However, since then I have had terrible urgency and cramping and more symptoms than before. I have a call in to my clinic, but has anyone experienced this before? I have mostly read that the enemas work better than the suppositories, so it's a little disconcerting that it seems like it's making it worse for me. Thanks for your feedback. I have read this forum for a year or two, and even though I just joined, it's made this illness less isolating.

When is the urgency and do you hold the enemas in throughout the night?

You should ask the doc to put you on a low dosage of oral mesalamine anyway.

I'm suspecting your UC has increased in severity and spread upward over time.

You could try the enemas at night and supps during the day.

Please explain your symptoms exactly
