I feel like an idiot asking all these questions, but I'm between GI doctors at the moment, so...
Anyhow, I had another ingrown toenail removed on Thursday. The doctor used bactroban during the procedure, though he prescribed me bacitracin to use while the toenail heals--just pure bacitracin; not triple antibiotic or anything else in it. Just in case, I restarted my probiotics, which I haven't taken in awhile.
That afternoon, I started getting an upset stomach, followed by an urgent feeling and a little diarrhea. The diarrhea is off and on, I'm still having 2 BMs a day (no blood), and the urgency is gone. I still have an upset stomach, though.
I admit I'm stressing out about this: "Bactroban is an antibiotic! Antibiotics cause c-diff! OMG, I HAVE C-DIFF!" I don't think I actually have c-diff, as it seems it would take more than a single dose of topical bactroban to cause that, and it wouldn't hit me within 12 hours of using it. And I'd also be on the toilet a heck of a lot more than twice a day. It's not stopping my brain from having a freak out, though. So I'm wondering if either the bactroban or my own stress level is causing a small flare?
Sorry to keep asking these questions, but I don't see a GI specialist until the 22nd--and they won't answer questions until then, as "you're not our patient yet." Geez.
