Was having my Remicade infusion yesterday and noticed many people coming in for Entyvio infusions. They were in and out within 45 minutes.
I asked my nurse how Entyvio was working for people. She had done approximately 200 infusions and only had 1 person with an allergic reaction.

Then she mentioned something new a some local GI's were trying, it's called Rapid Remicade. Your Remicade is infused within 30 minutes instead of 2+ hours.
The first three infusion are 1 hour long to make sure you are able to handle it, then the infusion time is reduced to 30 minutes.
The premeds were a little more she said, 3 Tylenol tablets, 200mg of Hydro-cortisone, and Claratin.

My current premeds are 2 Tylenol tables and 50mg of Hydro-cortisone.

She said some patients were excited about the faster infusions, while some enjoyed the time away from everything.

Occasionally someone will post about faster than 2 hour remicade/infliximab infusions. I know the original manufacturer guidelines said at minimum 2 hours. Not sure if the manufacturer's guidelines have changed, or whether just your facility does them faster.

Meta-analysis: rapid infliximab infusions are safe.
CONCLUSIONS:
Rapid infliximab infusions of ≤1-h duration are not associated with increased risk of infusion reaction when compared to standard 2- to 3-h infusions in selected patients who previously tolerated three to four standard infusions. One-hour infusions will conserve health care resources and may lead to improved adherence and quality of life in patients receiving infliximab.

That would be really awesome! But I know in my case, I wouldn't be able to tolerate it. One time the nurse accidently started infusing me faster than normal, my blood pressure soared and I was having major chest pains even with the pre-med of Benedryl and Solumedrol.

The faster infusions would certainly make it possible for more patients to be treated.

Going to ask my GI about it at my next checkup.

Just thought it was interesting and might be helpful to someone.
