Hospital stay and Diarrhea

Any advice or thoughts on this? I wound up in hospital at advice from my doctor due to my blood pressure of 253/125 on Monday when I went in for my check up. My pressure had never been that high. While in there I was given several different meds both IV and orally to try to get my BP down to normal levels. I also got an antibiotic by IV for a sinus infection. I also got loads of bloodwork, X-ray, cat scan, ultrasound, and MRI done on me. While in hospital I didn't poop but as soon as I got home, I wound up having watery diarrhea three times that night and again yesterday and this morning when I woke up. I had my UC under control completely before going into hospital. Made sure I took my Lialda in the hospital too. The BP meds I'm on now are 3 pills a day of Clonidine and 1 of Diovan. These are both new medications for me. I'm wondering if these new meds are causing the watery diarrhea or if I should start up some Prednisone, or take something else to try to harden my stool up again. Anybody have any thoughts? Did you have a Ct with contrast? When I drink the contrast solution I have awful watery diarrhea for a few days.

No contrast with the cat scan. Just had the antibiotic in the IV while in the Emergency Room. Along with two doses of a beta blocker in IV, and then several different oral blood pressure pills til they got my pressure down to 157/78 and then transferred me another room and admitted me for further testing and abservation where I was given the Diovan and Clonidine 3 times a day to continue to drop my pressure. Could my nerves also be playing a part in the Diarrhea I wonder. I am feeling nervous about flaring again. The doctor prescribed prescribed both Ceftin antibiotics and the 6 day course of Prednisone for me to start when I got home for the sinus infection but I haven't taken it since I don't feel like I still have the infection anymore and don't want to add them to the slew of other meds I'm on if I don't have too. I keep taking Acidophilus each day too. Was wondering if this might be a stomach bug that I have too.

Thanks Ipoop. I'm hoping it's just the antibiotics and trying to stay calm and not worry. I was going along so well with controlling my UC after a year long flare that I just don't want this to set me back again.

You know it's difficult when we have both a gastroenterologist and primary who is an Internist taking care of us. The primary doesn't seem to take into consideration all the time that some meds he prescribes can negatively affect our UC. And when you try to tell them, they don't listen because they know it all. 😢

Had Bronchitis few years ago,primary care Dr[who i don't use anymore} gave me Zithromax.It put me in hospital for 5 days bc i had BIG D.Lost 25 lbs pretty quickly-Antibiotics aren't good for me,now my gastro said Ciproflaxan are safe for my UC and they are good.break them in half so my system can tolerate them better.My gastro told me to go to walk in[urgent care] affiliated with hospital bc they have all my records if i get sick,they will know what Meds are safe for me

if the antibiotics started a flare, it may not die down on its own.

Just also wondering if anyone who is on4 pills a day of Lialda is having higher blood pressure since being on the Mesalamine. Is it a side effect of Mesalamine?
