Finally discharged today! Woot woot!

Getting discharged today! They made a follow up appt with my doc tomorrow where I can discuss diet, tapering off pred, etc. I'm surprised he's being that thorough, but it's good bc I have only seen associates in his office since I've been here - he doesn't visit the hospital usually. Anywho, his other docs had it covered.

Plan for heading home- 60mg of pred, bentyl, immodium, and remicade in another 2 weeks. No lactose and low residue diet for now.

I'm exhausted today after the infusion today :/ going to just go home and sleep. At least I'll be able to sleep at home and see my dog!! 9 days in the hospital is insane!

Thanks everyone. I had a follow up with the doc today and he put me back on 100mg of imuran as he said it should work well in conjunction with the pred and remicade. He also wants to have me do another dose of remicade next week (1 week out instead of the normal 2) and see him. He's also putting a standing bloodwork order in for every two weeks to keep an eye on my inflammation and liver counts. I meet with him next week to talk about how things are going and to plan from there.

I felt really hopefully and although he said it's good to see the glass half full, he has to try and keep throwing stuff at this disease to keep it at bay. He compared it to a house fire. You can only use a garden hose to put out the fire for so long until you need to bring in the big trucks and hoses to get the job done from all sorts of angles.

Exhausted though- still going about 10x a day and slept 15 hours since yesterday! Taking tomorrow off from work and then hoping to get back at it in Monday. After two weeks out I'm just starting to use up all my sick days.

Yes...You sound like you are on the right track.

I did the max amount of Remicade weekly for 2 months and then went bi weekly then every 8 weeks. It healed me and my colon was like a sieve. I did get a stricture though...but I went from "we don't think you'll make it another 3-6 months" to Wow! You have healed except in a couple places." My Crohns is so aggressive that when I had the stricture, had the colostomy, missed a Remicade dose by 4 weeks....it had already started back in causing enough damage that a reconnect might not possible now. Moral of the story: stay on your meds! Lol.
