Asacol not covered by insurance anymore?

I'm not taking it anymore, but got a letter a few months back stating Cigna is no longer covering it. Anyone else has this issue? I was wondering what was going on. Pure curiosity.

Insurance companies adjust their formularies all the time as they make deals with different distributors who carry different brands. Sometimes different by plan within company. Some of it relates back to manufactures playing games with patent laws.

asacol has had more disruption than some because of Dezicol and Asacol HD.

They will usually cover Delzacol which is the new version of Asacol. You just take the capsule out of the new covering and it's exactly the same.

Thanks! BeautUC, are you doing Rowsa or Generic. Generic has never worked for me, but Rowasa always did. I can't get my hands on it....ANYWHERE!!!

I still use Rowasa as needed, it's still available. I stockpile the stuff, my doc over prescribes it during flares so I just save it for next time. Hopefully one of these years , there won't be a next time smile

Where are you located? Are you in the states? If so what pharmacy do you use? And one last question, can you ask your pharmacy what distributor they get the Rowasa from? The people who make it could not tell me which distributor carries it. I was like that's weird. Lol.

I'm in Toronto Canada. I will check with the pharmacy to make sure its still available, my supplies are fairly old. I'll also ask about suppliers etc
