ugh, sewer backup

It is a uc-dr's worst nightmare. I came home from running errands this afternoon and thought the cats had bombed the litter box. Sadly when I investigated this was not the case and discovered the sewer line had backed up into my basement, poop on the floor and all!
Of course my lovely husband is in Canada this afternoon performing a recital and my kids have their piano recital at six this evening. Here I sit, watching roto rooter snake the drain lines and hoping for the best. Windows open in the house, heat is off but the wood stove is cranking away. Fingers crossed no one needs to poop for the next couple of hours!

:-( I feel you. I went through hurricane Wilma and after had no toilet for 1 week because no power to operate the lift pumps in our area. We went to motels which were hard to find, all booked up. We were not in a remote area, this was in Naples FL which opened our eyes to how poorly prepared most cities/counties are for disasters and this was not even a direct hit.

We never had a back-up or clean-up, sorry for your troubles.

OH no, what a nightmare!! For anyone really, but worse for us. We produce so much... sewage.

There is nothing like seeing your poop come back to haunt you! It is all fixed now, just finishing up the cleanup, my house smells like bleach now, which is much better than the smell from earlier. Fun times, for sure.

I feel the pain! We had this happen a year ago at our old house. We had a sewer back up due to tree roots in the main drain (ugh! The stench!) Had a plumber out, he whacked the roots and we found out the blockage was due to my daughters tampons getting stuck on the roots - in which she was mortified! Lol

That's good! They found a matchbox car and a cloth diaper liner in the drain. No one has work diapers in my house since 2012 and that car was flushed down the drain even before then!

i'm so sorry, i hate cleaning the house so i imagine this horror for bonjour. Many years ago when i got back from my holidays, the moment i opened the windows, a swarm of raging wasps entered the room, i can't believe that i came out of it alive. My parents somehow managed to expel them all using vinegar spray. During the two weeks of our absence, the wasps had built a cozy nest in the frames of the windows.

I had that happen with lady bugs once, thankfully not wasps! How horrible. I am a magnet for wasps, I always get stung.

A diaper? Out of sight....out of mind till the worst time possible! Is anyone able to help you with the clean-up?

I feel for you.......hope this is a once-in-a-lifetime 😣
