I'd been in remission for about 12 years when had what I thought was a flareup. My alternative doctor diagnosed it as hemorrhoids because blood was "bright and because I had to push my bowels." He recommended phylum seed and a pill to soften stool. Then I had a colonoscopy done by my GI doctor; he reported it as proctitis. I went back to the alternative doctor with the report and photos of the colon. He said, "It's not colitis; it's yeast." He then recommended yogurt, kafir, and Fluconazole which I took for a week. It's very confusing because my first occurrence of colitis caused bleeding while now I only have ongoing liquid diarrhea, which can be brown to yellow. Also, the typical ongoing pain on the left side is very occasional nor is it especially painful. Tomorrow I am scheduled for a visit with the GI doctor; I plan on asking him to do tests to better determine what else might be causing the brown/yellow diarrhea. For the past week I've been eating very mushy veggies and making my own chicken/veg soup which I strain, white rice, and white sweet potatoes and occasional eggs. If I don't get anywhere with the GI doctor, I will be forced to go to either of the Integrative gastroenterologists in NYC or I would try to have a consult with Dr Mullen. I've already spent $1,000 for Canasa and as you might understand am fed up.
