C-diff Med Fidaxomicin

I was just tested positive for C-diff and was put on 500mg of Flagyl 3x/day for ten days. I read the reoccurrence is not as likely with taking Fidaxomicin. Has anyone tried this?

The above is exactly why I feel I must comment when people keep pushing activated charcoal..Colostrum Difficile is a serious super bug and I don't believe activated charcoal is a cure for it.

From what I understand about activated charcoal is that it is good for gas, bloating and even a hangover but it won't restore the good bacteria like a probiotic will.

After you did your regimen, did you have your doctor retest you to see if it comes back negative?

Unless you've used it for C-Diff and claimed it didn't work then please don't comment on your naive BELIEFS because I've experienced otherwise without the BELIEF but the action involved.

I believe once again you are posting under another name to promote your beliefs on Activated Charcoal (Have you got a share in the company) lol!

I have had C Diff myself and it was the only time I ever thought that I might be in serious trouble! ...its a killer...and it worries me that you mention something as innocuous as charcoal as a cure.
Some people may read this and turn to that rather than their doctor first, that's my concern.

wyom, try to remember that we all react differently to stuff. That's the crux of the matter, what worked for you might not work for everyone.


I certainly don't think doctors are God, the ones I have encountered have been terrible.

I think Flagyl is a horrible drug with side effects and rarely works for the first round. I would request to start Dificid as it has a much better cure rate and is supposed to be used for the first round although docs don't usually prescribe it that way. I failed 10 days of Flagyl and 10 days of Vanco. I was cured by 10 days of Dificid which is the drug you mention. Many people are cured by Dificid over Flagyl and I would ask to switch esp. if you have IBD.
