rifaximin or imodium?

can anyone please tell me whats the difference between rifaximin and imodium.
my main GI always recommend imodium for diarrhea but one another doctor from his team gave me rifaximin last time and i was able to come out of 5 months old flares in just a week..from now i wont be able to see my doc for 2 months so i want to know which one i should take if i experience diarrhea again during that time.

it is not possible to speculate on Immodiun versus antibiotic, except to say that if you have an infection, only an antibiotic will help.

IF you are having fast transit and poorly formed stool in the absence of infection, some limited Imodium can be useful - but you must be very careful to stop if you do not produce stool.
