I am on vacation in Europe. I've had a few "accidents" before, usually while waiting to access the one bathroom in my apartment at home. This was the first on the road, and it was devastating. I am sharing an apartment with friends. It has two bathrooms for 7 people. Yesterday, I suddenly had to go, and both bathrooms were in use. We're a bit outside of town, so I thought about
driving up to the local service station, but nature took over, and I didn't make it even until the showers were free. Disaster. I was mortified, especially as I had no way to immediately clean up, there in my bedroom with no bathroom access. I did what I could by undressing, rolling up my clothing, and, when the bathroom cleared, rinsing out the clothes in the sink (then cleaning the sink), then showering. The worst part, though, was the spots on the carpet in my room. So I cleaned that with soap and water, and then again with stain remover that I bought at the corner market this morning. It will get by. I also took the cleanup towels and my clothes to the laundromat, telling my pals I was going out for lunch. This is the first 48 hours of a vacation that I've looked forward to for a year and paid for months ago and it wasn't cheap. I am wondering how much sightseeing I can do and whether I can ever travel again.
