So ive been having stoumach problems for about a month it all seemed to start after i felt unwell after eating some whole grain pizza.I had diariah for 10 days followed by constipation for 10 days so i was starting to get worried and my doc told me to increese my fiber that fixed my constipation but my stools were very loose still. Well my last 2 bms had a ton of blood in the stool but they were after i ate a ton of raw veggies at least 15 g of fiber each night 2 nights in a row. I just read that raw broccoli and such veggies are a huge trigger for ulcerative colitis could that explain the blood? Btw im still going for a colonocopy just to be on the safe side but for the 1st time in a month im thinking i might not have colon cancer after all im 25.

Pizza nor broccoli are triggers for a flare. Dont believe everything you read.

Let us know the outcome of the c-scope.

Did the doc at least do stool samples?

No food is a trigger for UC. It's very individual.

Alice no gastroenterologist yet my famil doc is recoomending me to one and for a colonocopy is it possible im in the middle of a aflare up amd the veggies made it worse? also quincy i mean i got the stoumach bug from pizxa vould that trigger it? Also doing a fit test the next time i poop

Pizza exacerbates my condition quite badly and I was once nearly hospitalized after eating raw carrot sticks, so I don't agree that it can't make things worse. I think you need to start going easy on your digestive system, stick to protein, fish, chicken and a fairly bland diet otherwise, not a ton of food that is not easily digestible is my advice. But you also need meds to get that flare under control

I dont know if i have UC thats why im going for a colonocopy to try and get to the bottom of this... Maybe i do and this is just a big flare up ive always been a very gassy person especialy when i eat fiberious foodd

After being diagnosed with UC, I changed my diet to low-residue (little/no fiber and especially only soluble fiber). Though clearly I wasn't healed, my bleeding and mucous went away nearly instantly. After a few weeks I tired slowly adding more fruits and veggies back into my diet, and after only a few days of that, the blood came back. I'm guessing you're in a flare, and the fiber is definitely aggravating it.

Yes, I agree that raw veggies may not "trigger" a flare, but I need to stay far far away from them until my colon has healed. It's true of any foods that have sharp edges or are irritating to my colon though.

There are a lot of discrepancies here as to what each persons "avoid" category is......but when in a flare, as you seem to be, then most seem to agree that consuming a "low residue diet" is a good idea as the foods are softer, easier to digest and mild.

I got so freaked out by the raw veggies (and seeing blood the following morning) that I even began using digestive enzymes for a few months to make sure everything was getting completely digested "safe" for my colon to pass. It may not have been necessary, but I appear to be in remission now, so I'd do it all over again.
