When I was flaring it was easy to avoid meals because I would have terrible abdominal pain after eating. So I tried to be on the “safest” food I could find, chicken broth. And then gradually added other safe items in my diet as I was getting better.
When flaring I considered a food 'safe' if it didn't cause stomach pain. Now that I am in remission safe foods are those items that don't trigger symptoms. See my signature.
BTW, on your question about
blueberries. Well I eat blueberries regularly (frozen are cheapest and easiest to keep) and feel it helps me:
/www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100208145055.htmIt is already known that blueberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. New research shows that blueberry fiber is important and can alleviate and protect against intestinal inflammations, such as ulcerative colitis. The protective effect is even better if the blueberries are eaten together with probiotics.
