For the last 2 wks I've been on anti-biotics: keflex, ampicillin,flagyl to prevent cdiff and cancidas IV injections for UTI and have experienced very watery stools and I've been able to control it to get to the bathroom without having an accident. I have cramps and because I have a stint in my kidney from having stones removed earlier, I also have a soreness in the area of the left kidney. On 9/8 I had a stool sample for cdiff and it came back negative, but when I told my PA about the loose bowels she ordered another stool sample....which I'm not excited about taking. Because I have UC also, I'm on Humira 40 mg 2x/mo, Lialda, 4 tabs daily. I'm drinking approx 64 oz. of water per day. I've taken immodeum, but that doesn't seem to help, is there anything I can do to stop the loose stools? confused

I would give S. boulardii a try. It's a yeast probiotic known to be protective against c. Difficile. It's the perfect probiotic to take with antibiotic as they don't interfere and it also works well for loose stools.
You can buy it online (I like Now or Renew life) and starte slow and you can go up at the maximum dosage which is 10billions 3x a day.

Are you not taking probiotics?
A varied strain would be best in my opinion....

I'm taking vsl#3ds with yogurt for my probiotics, plus today I started fiber capsules. I saw my gastro dr. today and because of all the antibiotics I'm on, I'm to continue with the flagyl to ward off cdiff, even after the antibiotics are finished by Sunday. I made the mistake of having 2 pcs of chocolate covered carmels since I didn't have lunch....MISTAKE....Immodium is my best friend. Had my IV infusion and then my gastro dr. visit today. Lots of travel. Some days, I'm sick of dr. visits, pills and watching what I eat! Today is one of them.
