Did anyone get notification about new test results?

Celiac was one of them.

Tests for variants near the HLA-DQA1 and HLA-DQB1 genes linked to the HLA-DQ2.5 and HLA-DQ8 haplotypes. These haplotypes are associated with celiac disease.

I know a bunch of us are in the study group for iBD smilewinkgrin

Mine said slightly increased for one. Weird because I've had tests at the doctor in the past and never had anything show up. I've also avoided gluten for periods of time at many points with no positive response. It did say that having a slightly increased result did not mean you have or will develop celiac. Maybe I will lay off the gluten for a bit and see if it helps with fatigue, but I doubt it. It never has in the past.

I got the email, it says I do not have any of the traits for Celiac, but I have 1 of the two for macular degeneration. My grandmother who had Crohn's also had macular degeneration and IBD is linked to it according to my ophthalmologist.

To clarify, what NotSoSicklyGirl is referring to is just one of 23andMe's Health reports. You don't have to join the IBD research project in order to see 23andMe's reports. Rather, anyone who has returned the 23andme kit can see them. The IBD project just enabled me to get the kit for free.

Within 23and Me, I just go to Reports> Genetic Health Risk> and then Celiac Disease. No variants there for me.

Others though:

I have a "Slightly increased risk" of Late-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, which scares me (my grandmother on my mother's side had it, as does one of my mom's sisters). I've seen what it does to sharp minds, and the dramatic mental and physical degradation that goes with it, very sad. *fingers crossed* that I don't get that one.

I'm a carrier of one Cystic Fibrosis variant. If I had a child, and my wife had that variant as well, then their's increased odds that our child would have CF. No plans to have kids though.

iPoop, my mom is a carrier for CF as is one of my sisters, but I am not. We do have a family history of it, too on the same side of the family with Crohns... I guess my family is a genetic mess!

That's weird mom2boys. I never knew that they were connected. I have one of the macular degeneration ones too!!! I remember when I was little I went to a family thing and I met someone who had the condition. I am not sure why I remember that out of everything... I was a little kid.

I just saw your post in the eye thread and I wasn't aware there was a surgery a while ago. I thought the treatment was shots in the eye (scary!!). I was not happy to get either of those "slightly increased" items. I had nothing else fortunately.

Is that the surgery your grandma had?
I was looking into having lasik and I found that.
Maybe by the time we are older there will be more options.
I know I am premature but i started taking eye vitamins now because I really need my eyes in good health. Looking at screens is probably bad. Maybe i will get computer glasses.

iPoop, I am sorry. It says it doesn't mean you have or will develop the condition *fingers crossed* for all of us. I was really having a heart attack opening that one though.

NSSG, It was an earlier version of the procedure. Essentially in the surgery my grandmother had, they placed a new lens of sorts in the eye and in order for it to attach properly she had to keep her head looking down for 4 weeks. We think she wasn’t super compliant with that rule and that’s why the first surgery failed, but the second one worked.

I finally got my UBiome results and also did the 23andme tests when they were on sale for Amazon Prime days at 50% off. Lots of interesting information! I do have one of the macular degeneration variants, and a few others to boot. Nothing specific to UC that 23andme has given me a report on but there could be something there that I just haven't found yet.

In addition to all the reports that 23andme provides you can look up genes individually with info from places like https://www.snpedia.com/. With other sites like http://geneticgenie.org/ you have to provide them with your info and they give you a report (free!). They say they do not keep your date but like everything on the interwebs, beware.

Anybody know where I can find some Akkermansia muciniphila?

I also tested negative for celiac disease variants and positive one for macular degeneration variant.
