Best/Worst Public Bathrooms

I'm all about the single room type bathrooms, like a disabled bathroom. Nothing worse than being in a cubicle and someone walks in, I can't go then which is infuriating so have to do the old Mexican stand-off. Couldn't care less about the type of toilet paper, hand dryers etc as long as I have privacy!

Best bathrooms:

4.) Dunkin donuts are everywhere in the northeast, almost one on every block. They are sometimes one-holers, other times have multiple toilets per gender. They're usually clean-enough. People tend not to linger in dunken donuts, usually just go through the drive through, not a cafe like place where people hang out need the restroom more. Therefore a safe bet.

3.) Gas stations as they're available everywhere, usually multiple stalls and no interruptions. Vary in cleanliness from kinda nasty to real clean. You can usually tell from the newness of the building on what you're going to get for bathroom cleanliness (new and nice buildings have the best bathrooms, if it's scuzzy outside expect the same in the bathroom x2). If it's an old-style cinder-block gas station then you know the bathroom will be sketchy. Around here a new looking Cumberland farms and Irvings are a safe bet. A shout out to Wawa's, they're generally clean for those who live in the greater PA area lol.

2.) Big box stores with many toilet stalls per gender (walmart, lowes, etc.). There's always a free toilet, they're clean and generally nice. I understand some don't like sharing the restroom when pooping, but as a guy, nobody's bashful or ashamed, mostly boastful. Always throw in a "why did I eat that?" for good measure to let the others understand why I'm having a rough one lol.

1.) Any bathroom that's available when you need it most haha. Urgency from UC often doesn't allow you to be choosy.

Worst bathrooms:

6.) Cafe's and coffee shops with a one-hole toilet, as you get no more than 3 minutes before somebody knocks noisily on the door. A shop full of people who indulge in copious amounts of caffeine have to go more frequently.

5.) Small stores that have a bathroom but insist it's not a public one. I've sometimes convinced them to let me use it when I explain I have a medical condition, but it isn't a reliable yes. Nothing worse then having to run to another shop and hope that the wasted time won't result in an accident.

4.) Small, local auto mechanic shops. Usually just one bathroom, grease on everything, toilet/sink/door usually in poor operating order.

3.) Portable toilets (like you see at public events) are awful from the smell, and the general unsanitary feeling you get being in one.

2.) The woods along the side of the road. We've all done it due to extreme urgency (and you unlock a UC achievement metal for doing so). Although scenic and idealistic to listen to birds while pooping among the pine trees, the lack of tp and worry that somebody might see you can be a bit unnerving.

1.) Your pants (and you unlock a UC achievement metal for doing so). Nothing more awful then an accident with or without a diaper/pad. Cleanup is a mess no matter what, a diaper at least increases the odds you don't have leaks and visibly soil your clothing.

I find the restrooms in CVS stores to be pretty reliable, and seldom occupied. I'm not sure the average shopper is even aware they're there.

I find hotel bathrooms are always the best, but of course you only find hotels in certain areas such as the downtown area of cities.

Grocery store bathrooms used to be non-existant or else pretty grim, but I find they are getting better in recent years. I rely on them quite a bit in my area since I live in a residential area where there are no hotels.

Gosh, I have used the bathroom everywhere.

The worst are usually bars in cities and porta-potties. The ones at a standard "day job" office buildings suck too. No ventilation, humid, lots of stalls, generally smell like they've been cleaned with dirty toilet water.

I use the family bathroom whenever I see one. They are cleaner. Big name stores usually have good bathrooms, like Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Saks. Sometimes they have music and stall doors that go to the floor for privacy. Sometimes they have a family bathroom... Usually if there's a family bathroom, it's big and single, no stall, your own sink. I am my own family.

I used a really bad toilet last time i was flaring at an ice cream shop. it was no name and there were cleaning supplies in there. A mop in dirty water, flies. It was nasty. I also had to go into a mom & pop shop on the side of a city road once. I was surprised they let me in, and then I probably did some damage, but it only lasted a minute until it cleared. I guess they understood. Their bathroom wasn't terrible considering.

Movie theaters tend to be fairly clean and abundant.

Public transport places, bus stations, train, airport, are usually gross. Grocery store bathrooms are some of the worst.

Im in New York where theres a fast food place everywhere.Today i went to Mc Donalds,yesterday was Gas Station.Dont care what place looks like i just poop and go.

When I first moved here (small FL town) the local CVS kept their 2 bathrooms locked and you had to ask at pharmacy counter for the key!! There is always a line at the pharmacy (didImentionit'sFlorida). They gave that up yay but I never use it any more.

I have travelled across many states and judge the quality of Walmart on whether they have bathrooms at the front of the store AND at the back. That's a long walk if only one location when need strikes.

Remission means I no longer locate the bathroom immediately (just in case) when entering an unfamiliar store but every now and then I notice myself doing that.

My worst bathrooms are always at public events, farmers markets, county fairs. OMG the lines, cannot enjoy events anymore. But spent hours on Halloween walking around downtown with literally thousands of people with no worries. I knew where the public bathrooms were located blocks away and no one was using them.

I feel your pain Jessa!! I remember I once went out to dinner with friends and halfway through the meal the cold sweats started. I went to the bathroom and all there was was a single disabled toilet in a big room, door on the opposite side and lock broken. The most nerve-wracking experience if my life!!
