Prednisone irritability? Headaches?

Okay I just started the taper on prednisone. Down to 1 1/2 pills of what was a 40mg daily dose.

No UC symptoms since the hospital... *knock on wood*

I have noticed I'm still considerably fatigued more often than usual since the hospital stay now two weeks ago. And I've been irritable w/ bad headaches that pulse into my eyes and sinuses. This is unusual for me because I am *very* rarely irritable or upset... and don't get frustrated by the mundane, but I could figuratively tear my hair out right now. I also lost my grandfather a few ays ago and that's contributed, I think.

Anybody else? Any suggestions for how to deal with it? I do find if I take two extra strength Tylenol and benadryl after work it clears the headache and helps a little... but that's probably not good long-term.

We can get withdrawal as we taper down prednisone and fatigue and pains like headaches are possible.

How long were you on pred at 40 mgs? What does 1.5 pills mean in milligrams?

Sometimes our system is upset for a couple days after dropping in dose but should rebound.

I was on steroids in the hospital for 4+ days and then 40mg of pred for 2 weeks, down to 30mg the last two days (which doesn't seem like a big drop).

I was on 40mg for several months, then 30, then 20, then 15, 10, 5, and finally got off completely after about 6 months.

I wouldn't worry about taking a couple tylenol if it helps with the headache. Tylenol in that dose is pretty safe.

You are experiencing whey so many people hate Prednisone. It works great, but the price you pay with side effects can really suck. I am so glad to be off the pred finally!
